Innova Disc Golf produces golf discs using different types of plastics, each with their own unique characteristics in terms of durability, stability, hand feel and disc flight. The most common types of plastics used by Innova are briefly described below:
-
DX: is the most basic and economical plastic used by Innova. It is smooth to the touch and has a good grip, making it ideal for beginners or players looking for inexpensive discs. However, this plastic is less durable than the other types.
-
Pro: This plastic is more durable than DX and offers a firmer hand feel. It is less sticky than DX and wears out more slowly. It is a good option for intermediate or advanced players looking for a combination of durability and grip.
-
Champion: it is a very resistant and durable plastic, ideal for players looking for long-lasting discs. It has a firm hand feel and is less sticky than the Pro. Due to its durability, Champion discs can be more stable than other plastic discs.
-
Star – This plastic is similar to Champion in terms of durability, but offers more grip. It's a bit softer to the touch than the Champion, making it easier to grip. Star's pucks have a slightly softer hand feel than Champion's.
-
GStar: It is a plastic similar to the Star in terms of adhesion, but it is more flexible and has a little more "grip". It is a softer plastic than the Star and is better suited to cold temperatures. GStar discs also tend to be more stable than other plastics.
-
XT – This plastic is similar to the Pro, but with a slightly smoother texture. It is very resistant to wear and has good adhesion. XT pucks have a very comfortable feel in the hand and are ideal for players looking for a combination of durability and grip.
Each of these plastics has its own advantages and disadvantages, and the choice will depend on the personal preferences of the player. Innova also offers some limited and special edition plastics that may have unique characteristics compared to these basic types.
